PROTECT YOUR INVESTMENT

Termites and the damage that they cause have gained media attention at just about every level.  That’s why the staff at Termite Tech believes it is important to educate home owners of ways to prevent becoming a victim of the destruction that termites cause.  We believe that prevention is better that cure and certainly a lot less costly.

Each year we spend hundreds of dollars on car insurance, home insurance, contents insurance and health insurance.  Unfortunately, many people tend to ignore safeguarding their home against termites until it is brought to their attention because of a termite infestation.  Termite Tech offers affordable preventative treatments which may save you thousands of dollars in damages bills.

THE DO NOTS IN TERMITE PREVENTION

  • If termites are located, do not disturb them, we need them alive to allow a more effective treatment.
  • Do not spray the area with insecticide.
  • Wooden piles, wooden articles, cardboard boxes and other cellulose based materials should not be stored in direct ground contact or underneath houses.  These materials provide termites with an excellent food source and in some cases may assist in creating an entry point for termites into your home.
  • Do not have gardens, trees, plants, mulch or bark or other items which may encourage termites too close to the perimeter of the home.  A clearance of at least 300mm should be allowed for visual inspection of the home.
  • Leaking taps, showers, air-conditioning or hotwater overflows or things that may create high moisture should be rectified as soon as possible.
  • Do not allow the subfloor ventilation to become inadequate.  Check for moisture under the house regularly.
  • Subfloor drainage should be checked to prevent excess water accumulating.  High moisture levels may assist in attracting termites to your home.
  • Do not use untreated timbers to form garden beds or retaining walls as these will attract termites.

REGULAR INSPECTIONS FOR PEACE OF MIND

Termite inspections should be carried out annually or in high risk areas it may be suggested that inspections are more frequent.  A termite inspection provides information to the homeowner.  Clients are given a full written report regarding any activity located and recommendations that assist in termite prevention.  Quotations are provided should a treatment be a recommendation.  Our specifically designed database allows us to contact you personally when your next inspection falls due.  The database is confidential and is not in any way used or sold for promotional marketing.

Specialising in termite management allows you piece-of-mind when purchasing your new home.  A qualified pest control technician is able to ascertain whether or not the home has infestations of termites, borers or decay problems.  We are also able to determine infestations of general pests such as cockroaches, silverfish, ants and spiders.  This information assists you to make informed choices of potential associated costs in purchasing a property.
